Womin Jeka - Welcome

Welcome to Tjanabi. My name is Carolyn Briggs and we would like to invite you to enjoy our company at Tjanabi.

In my language, the language of the original inhabitants of Melbourne, Tjanabi means to celebrate and at Tjanabi we celebrate the spirit of this great city.

My mother taught me that there were six seasons in Melbourne, with each season producing a foods from the land and sea that we could enjoy and share. Each season brought with it a new bounty of seasonal produce - and a new journey cycle.

At Tjanabi we have designed a menu that reflects this spirit, and by focusing on seasonal produce we have combined the tastes of regional Victorian produce with Australian native produce and game.

Our aim is to introduce you to the great taste of Australian native produce fused with the freshness and flavours of some of Victoria's best regional produce.

We are commited to good quality ingredients and in maintaining the art of cooking. All our desserts including our native fruit ice creams are made in house.

At Tjanabi we are also committed to supporting practices that support and sustain the environment. We are proud supporters of Gippsland Enviromeat - wonderful tender MSA graded beef that has been produced by a small number of Gippsland beef producers whose farms have been assessed and accredited against strict environmental standards.

Or you may enjoy the experience of sitting at a table made from 500 year old Jarrah trees. All our wooden tables have been crafted from recycled timber that may otherwise have been burnt or destroyed.

At Tjanabi - you will be able to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and appreciate the fine art of one of Australia's leading Indigenous artists, Shane Pickett.

Come and join us and experience great food and genuine Australian hospitality.
