To provide our guests with a richer and more in-depth experience of Melbourne heritage, Tjanabi has established a partnership with several tour groups and museums. Combine a heritage walk or a tour of National Gallery of Victoria with a lunch or dinner, to truly experience a sense of indigenous culture.
Tjanabi has also launched a series of cooking classes, which aim to uncover ancient uses of plants and produce, and are highlighted with a gourmet lunch by our master chef. We welcome groups and can accommodate most sizes and requests.

Tjanabi Walking Tour
Tjanabi walking tours provide visitors with the opportunity to learn
about Melbourne’s hidden Indigenous history and experience the expression of this history and heritage in contemporary Melbourne. To the original inhabitants, the Yarra River which flows through Melbourne, was called Birraung — meaning “River of Mists”. Your Indigenous guide will use the metaphor of the “River of Mists” to take you back to a time when this area was covered with native grasses, where emu and kangaroo grazed freely. Tours will also include a visit to the Ian Potter Gallery featuring its renowned collection of Australian Indigenous art followed by a walk along the Yarra, and are combined with a gourmet dinner with premium
Victorian wines.
